Today, June 27 - was a great day!! We bought a swing set - that I have been wanting for ages - we swam and swam and swam and just had a great family day out doors, and then spent some time with the Downings too... didn't think it could get any better... until before bedtime Liam wanted to play 'Rock Band'. We hadn't played in ages! He had to play the drums. Rob decided I would sing. In the middle of 'Suds in the Bucket' Liam walks over to me and smiles with the most loving look, starts rubbing my leg and says - "You're doing a good job Mommy, you're doing good!"
Is he the sweetest thing or WHAT!?!
Here are some cute things Liam has said lately:
Me: Liam, come put your hand on my tummy and feel James kick.
Liam: I don't want to. (few minutes later)... I don't want to feel James. I want to SEE James.
Me: Do you want to hold James, too?
Liam: No, I'm too little.
Another time he told me he wanted James to get out and play with him and take a bath with him, and blow some bubbles.
----
After scrubbing his cheeks almost raw with baby wipe...
Liam: I like to have clean cheeks Mommy!!
---
Liam: EEEEEEEWWWW... you stink Mommy!
Me: Sorry, I tooted.
Liam: I don't like it when you tooted.
---
At swimming lessons with Nana... they are playing ring around the rosey. New twist to the game is person in the middle choose what animal s/he is. When it was Liam's turn: River Monster!!
---
Liam and I had first fishing excursion lately to stocked pond at Columbia Park. No luck with the pole but caught some minnows close to beach and watched them swim around in our bucket for a bit. Liam named the largest one RIVER MONSTER. When it was time to go...
Me: Let's let these little fishies go back to their home.
Liam: These fishies don't have a home Mommy, they live in the water. We need to take them to our home!
So we did. They lived 24-48 hours in fish tank and then... perished.
---
Today when I picked Liam up from my parent's house...
Liam: I had fun when you worked today Mommy.
---
When boating on Snake and Columbia River, Liam spotted a whale, dolphin and shark - but NOT the elusive River Monster. Next time.
---
After playing T-ball and doing VERY well, Mommy and Daddy cheering him on he announced, "My name is Superman Liam!"
We sure do love our little Superman Liam.
Liam started swimming lessons this weekend! I brought video recorder but was not inclined to use since he cried pretty hard the whole time. It's the type of lessons without mom and dad in water, but for first one they advised one parent to get into water - I almost ignored the advice but thank GOD I didn't, and made Rob suit up - Liam wouldn't have made it and barely made it anyways. So, today we go to the pool again to let Daddy work alone and get more comfortable with the water. Do I flatter myself to think he would have been much better if I had been there (in water) in first place?
On way to lesson he said something interesting. We were driving out of neighborhood and he pointed and said 'There's a big doggy, and a man'... a few minutes later he said, "Mama, I don't like mans". I asked him why and he said "Because mans might get me." Huh!! Interesting! So a few minutes later he is sitting on step of pool/hot tub and his new swim teacher - a man! (a very young fit one) takes him and does a little spin around the water with him. I guess we weren't destined for a great start.
He is talking up a STORM... you wouldn't believe some of the things that come out of his mouth. He told his Nana the other day to move and sit further down on the retaining wall (he can be very bossy too), she said no she wanted to stay right here where her feet could reach the ground. He said, "Honey, it's OK -I'm right here!"
This morning I asked him for a kiss and he smiled devilishly and said, "You have to catch me!"
TOO CUTE.
Liam recently salvaged a toilet paper roll from the garbage... it started the following trip into make-believe...
Liam, sitting on couch with toilet paper roll up to his eye, scanning the room side to side...
Me: Liam, what are you doing?
Liam: I'm looking at monsters. And dinosaurs.
Me: What kind of dinosaurs?
Liam: A big twanosauwus REX! It's going to bite Mommy!
Me: Uh-oh, I better run away..... *runs from room, with Liam following laughing*
In hallway, at night with light on...
Me: Is it gone Liam?
Liam: No (points to the ground) twanasauwus rex here Mama, right here!
Me: (gets something to hit it with) There, it's gone!
Liam: (looking very concerned) No mama, it's still here, right here (pointing)
Me: Oh, that is a shadow Liam, from the coat rack...
It's been awhile, I've sort of fallen off the blog log as between working and a 2 year old and keeping the house up with 3 dogs... yeah, life.
Have not taken photos in the longest time! Here's a little conversation or two with Liam though...
Liam: Mama, I want to go bye-bye.
Me: Where do you want to go Liam?
Liam: I want to see dinosaurs. Let's go see dinosaurs! *raised eyebrows, excited and coaxing*
Me: Umm, I'm sorry Liam but the dinosaurs are extinct. They are all dead!
Liam: No!! No, dinosaurs at Chuck-E-Cheese! We go to Chuck-E-Cheese??
The other night we played a little game...
Me: Liam, if you were an animal, what animal would you be?
Liam: ...(long pause, thinking hard)... a Twanasowus REX!! ROAR!
Me: Wow!! Ok, if mommy was an animal, what animal would mommy be?
Liam: ...(long pause, thinking hard)...a SHARK!! With teeth!
Me: Wow, cool - great choice (my favorite animal!!). And if Daddy was an animal what animal would he be??
Liam: ...(long pause, thinking hard)...a hippopatamus!
Nana's first animal was an octopus, Papa's a lion, and then he got tired of that game... and the next time we played I was a sea horse! Daddy was still a hippo.
Time is flying by. I still haven't blogged about our Christmas yet, it seems so long ago already. I will do that, but not now - it takes time and energy, two things I am short on these days. Right now I have to share something Liam told me last night.
Liam, acting quite strange: Mama, I'm scared
Me: You're scared? (have never heard him use 'scared', he obviously was acting scared but could tell he wasn't, the little actor). What are you scared of?
Liam: A big monster. With teeth.
Me: There are no monsters Liam!
Liam: Yes (nodding, and points to front door). Big teeth, big, nose, ROAR. Scarey.
Right now if I had to choose a career for Liam, my choices would be zoologist (he never gets tired of learning about animals), Paleontologist (or dinosaurs and bones), or a rock star (loves to play Rock Band with Daddy - beware of flying drumsticks, but his singing is SO CUTE).
